2024  CONFERENCE And OFFICER ELECTIONS September 27

The Minnesota State Retiree Council, AFL-CIO, Second Biennial Conference will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Sheet Metal Workers Hall #10, 1681 Cope Ave., Maplewood, MN, 55109.

Beginning at 9:00 AM, will be Conference registration, refreshments, survey and information tables around the Conference Hall. Opening remarks begin at 10:00 AM with expected adjournment time for the Conference to be 2:00 PM, followed immediately by the Retiree Council Officer Elections.

 

The Board Officer Elections will take place from 2:00 - 3:00 PM at which time registered delegates of affiliated organizations will vote on Retiree Council Officers.

 

The registration fee for both the Conference and Board Officer Election is $35.00 per person, which includes morning refreshments and lunch.

 

 

The number of delegates to the convention is based upon an organization’s affiliated membership. Delegates may both speak and vote. Candidates for election as a State Retiree Council Officer must be delegates. Affiliated organizations are entitled to an equal number of alternates who are also encouraged to attend.  Alternates may speak but not vote.

 

Credentials Deadline: Friday, Sept. 22, 2023.

 

Once you have selected your delegates and alternates, please complete a credentials form (below) for each one. Send the bottom portion to the Minnesota State Retiree Council AFL-CIO, 175 Aurora Ave., St. Paul, MN 55103. It should be received by Friday September 22, 2023. The delegate or alternate should retain the top portion to present at the Conference and Board Member registration desk.

 

Please send a $35 conference registration fee for each delegate, alternate and guest, along with the credential forms. Checks should be written to Minnesota State Retiree Council AFL-CIO. Although, technically, credentials may be submitted at the conference, PLEASE submit credentials by Friday September 22, 2023, to make sure all who attend get lunch.

Elections and Nominations

Elections for Board Officers will be conducted at the meeting scheduled for that purpose between 2:00 PM and 3:00PM on September 27, 2023, as provided in Articles 8, 9 and 10 of the Minnesota State Retiree Council Bylaws.

Nominations for Retiree Council Officers should be submitted by Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, Nomination forms, along with a one-paragraph bio, should be submitted to the Nominations Committee Chair by Friday Sept. 22, 2023. Every candidate is encouraged to screen with the Nominations Committee.

 

The Nominations Committee will screen Candidates one hour prior (9:00 -10:00 AM) to the August 23, 2023, Board meetings and one hour prior to the start of the Conference and Board Officer Elections on Sept. 27, 2023.

 

Although Board Officer candidates need not appear before the Nominations Committee, they must submit the nominations form, along with a one-paragraph bio, to the Nominations Committee Chair.
