LETTER TO THE EDITOR, Minneapolis Star and Tribune
We have just weeks before the Presidential election. Let’s aim to practice civility during this period. Civility is formal Politeness and courtesy in behavior or speech. Let’s hold our politicians to a high standard. While negativity, name calling and nicknames might be entertaining, they are not appropriate in this venue. You wouldn’t let your children do this so why should the adults be allowed to do this?

LETTER TO THE EDITOR to the Red Wing Eagle, published
My Minnesota State Senator Steve Draskowski is a politician. And he is welcome to his viewpoint regarding democracy (RW Republican Eagle | July 27 -28). Steve doesn’t hide what he thinks and puts it into words. That’s a good thing. His viewpoint uses words like disastrous, horrified, weaponized and
many times the word extreme. Most concerning is his phrase “fearing for our lives”.

He doesn’t mention that democracy means, in its purist form, people govern. And people govern by voting. Perhaps in his “viewpoint” Drazkowski forgets that the former president, he appears to support, has used democracy to stay out of jail. Many believe the twice impeached president uses democracy when it benefits him. It might be honest for Drazkowski to say that some politicians support democracy to support their political goals. That is wrong!

The political party Draskowski is a leader in isn’t in charge. Neither are the other parties. We the people are … and we must not relinquish democracy to the politicians working to take it from us for self-serving reasons.
