VOTING IN THE 11-3-20 GENERAL ELECTION.

VOTING EARLY BY MAIL IS THE SAFEST WAY IN A PANDEMIC. REQUEST YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT EARLY AND RETURN IT IN PLENTY OF TIME. WE CAN’T PREDICT WHAT THE COVID SPREAD WILL BE ON 11-3. WAITING UNTIL ELECTION DAY TO VOTE CAN BE VERY RISKY.

REQUESTING YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT

You can request an absentee ballot from the Secretary of State's office for the  November 3 election online here.

Fill out the request form completely and hit “Submit”.  If the page stays the same and does not tell you your application has been received, scroll upwards and look for an error message that tells you some piece of information is blank. Put in any missing information and hit “Submit” again.

If you have successfully submitted the application, you will receive an email acknowledgment within a few days. If  you don't receive the acknowledgement, check your SPAM filter, since the acknowledgement sometimes goes to SPAM.  If you never get the changing page that says your request has been received, the numbers to call for help are:  1-877-600-VOTE or 651-215-1440.

RETURNING YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT

  • Voting begins Friday, September 18.

  • You will need a witness.

  • Follow the instructions for filling out and returning the ballot EXACTLY.

  • The envelope must be postmarked on or before 11-3 and be received by your county by the day before the county canvass, which may take place on the second or third day following the election.

  • If you feel your ballot will not arrive on time by US mail, you can return your ballot in person no later than 3 p.m. on Election Day to the election office that sent your ballot.

You can find details about in-person early voting here and we will  also include details in the October newsletter. If you want to get started now, click here.
